Caring For Your Flute
DO'S1. DO clean your flute regularly. The condensation formed from playing will not only cause your flute to rust, but also the pads to swell up and the flute's sound be jeopardized.
2. DO have your flute serviced more than once. 3. DO not hesitate to call a professional for help when needed. 4.DO clean your flute with an absorbent fabric. Silk is not an absorbent fabric. 5. DO clean not only the inside, but outside of your instrument. 6. DO assemble your flute with care, not forcing anything into place. |
DONT'S1. DON'T ever grease your flute, as it may wreck the joints and sockets.
2. DON'T forget to return your flute to it's case, as there's a greater chance of damaging it. 3. DON'T allow wet or even damp clothes to remain in the case with your flute. 4. DON'T force your flute together, as this may strain it and eventually ruin it. If it's difficult to assemble, seek expert help. 5. DON'T use liquid silver polish. 6. If your joints are too tight or lose, DON'T fix them on your own. Find a specialist. 7. Oiling your flute requires a special type of oil, as well as special skills. DON'T attempt this; allow a professional. |
HOW TO CLEAN YOUR FLUTE
To clean your flute, you only need two materials; a lint free cloth and a cleaning rod. The end of your cleaning rod will have a small slit in the end of it. To attach your cloth to the rod, simply slip the corner of the cloth through the slit. Completely cover the end of your rod with the cloth, and insert the rod into your flute head joint. Turn it until almost all the moisture has been absorbed. Repeat this process with both the body and the foot of the flute.
