Michel Blavet
In the 1700's, Michel Blavet was one of the most prominent flute players. In fact, his playing set new technical standards for flutists today. His impeccable tone continues to stand out to those who study the flute. Blavet taught himself music, yet his lack of a teacher did not hold him back. He was the first known flutist to play the flute with lively enthusiasm, much like violins at that time. One of Blavet's major accomplishments was being a part of Louis XV's own private music ensemble. Along with his playing, Blavet also composed music, most commonly for the flute.
