Bass Flute
The soft sound created by bass flutes makes it difficult to play in orchestra's with louder instruments. Therefore, bass flutes are most commonly found in only flute orchestra's.
SIZE- The bass flute is larger than both the concert flute and alto flute. Shown below is a size comparison between the alto flute and the concert flute.

SHAPE- The bass flute is very similar to the alto flute, except larger. It contains three parts; the footjoint, headjoint, and body. To bring the embouchure hole closer to the keys, the head joint is curved, as shown above.
PITCH- The bass flute is played in the key of C, the same as the concert flute and piano. However, it is one octave lower than the concert flute.
